About

This training is designed to equip play therapists with the necessary skills to effectively partner with parents throughout the play therapy process. From the initial intake to ongoing consultation meetings, therapists will learn how to communicate the value and process of play therapy, obtain crucial information about the child, and explain the themes of play to parents. By the end of this training, participants will be able to build stronger therapeutic alliances with parents, enhancing the overall therapeutic outcomes for children. Course Objectives: (1) Participants will be able to clearly articulate the purpose and process of play therapy to parents during the initial intake. (2) Participants will develop and implement a structured intake process that gathers comprehensive information about the child's history, behavior, and family dynamics. (3) Participants will demonstrate the ability to explain the themes observed in play therapy sessions and their significance to parents. (4) Participants will conduct effective parent consultation meetings that foster collaboration and support for the child's play therapy goals. (5) Participants will obtain vital information from parents about their child's behavior, emotions, and development through structured clinical interviews that will be helpful to the play therapy process.
