Service Description

We’re excited to offer a special one-day training focused on understanding children’s unique temperaments.: A Play Therapist's Guide to a Child's Wiring (3 CEs) -This workshop will explore the four classic temperament styles in children—sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic—and will help clinicians discover how understanding these traits can enhance attunement, responsiveness, and effectiveness in play therapy sessions. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of each temperament’s core strengths and vulnerabilities, including how these traits show up in the playroom. For example, the energetic, outgoing Sanguine child may thrive in expressive play but struggle with follow-through, while the goal-oriented Choleric child may challenge limits but respond well to leadership roles. The sensitive, reflective Melancholic child may benefit from deep, symbolic play and a sense of predictability, while the calm and agreeable Phlegmatic child may require gentle prompting to express emotions and assert needs.
