Dr. Mary Rottier

Dr. Rottier is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She has over 20 years of clinical experience with an emphasis on providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and their families. She has focused her work on helping kids grow in confidence, character, and creativity using a child-centered approach to therapy. She specializes in play and creative arts therapies for children from the early years to adolescence. She is trained in a variety of different types of therapy including animal assisted play therapy, sandtray therapy, and art therapy. She specializes in abuse, trauma, anxiety, and attachment issues and enjoys supervising and teaching other therapists.

Dr. Rottier’s goal is to help children reach their highest potential and to help families live more harmonious and happier lives together. She does this through her compassion, understanding, and many years of learning about children through the children themselves. She tailors therapy to meet the needs of each individual client. Her empathy and warmth help to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can process and heal.

Parents, families, and community are integral to the therapy process and can greatly influence the success of a child’s experience in the creative mode of therapy. Dr. Rottier keeps the family at the heart of her work and likes to empower parents as their child’s first and most vital resource. When she is not teaching or doing therapy, Dr. Rottier can be found kayaking the river with her two boys or competing at shows with her therapy dogs.
